Terralta’s roots.

Terralta started in the early 2000’s in Medicine Hat, Alberta before the idea of renewable energy was popular in Southern Alberta. The company started as a family business and today  we are proud to be a family business, one where our clients and team members are as much our family as those we share a home with.

In the fall of 2020 we merged with Air-Tech Ltd. to broaden and strengthen each of the company’s already complementary services. Our team is happy to have Air-Tech under the Terralta umbrella and we look forward to the future together.

Terralta | More than Solar.

Our Leadership Team

  • Co-Owner

Three years after the dawn of Terralta, Marcus Campbell arrived with a passion and a purpose. Marcus understood the importance of renewable energies and could see what Terralta was capable of. He also knew there had to be a way to shift the company to offer economically feasible solutions with a client’s best interests in mind and still be successful.

Having started in sales in 2009, Marcus was quickly recognized for his vision, ambition, and many years of experience as an owner/operator in the food & beverage industry. Marcus now oversees Terralta’s operations, ensuring the Terralta ship is always being steered in the right direction.

Marcus says the best part of his job is the people he gets to meet and connect with.  The work done by Terralta is much more personal than some people realize. When you are in someone’s home to fix their plumbing, install solar panels, or whatever needs to be done, you’re getting to know someone. Part of that is the shared understanding and appreciation of energy efficiency (not to mention cost savings).

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Marcus moved to the Hat in 1997 and married his wife Michelle for over 18 years. They have 3 beautiful children together and work hard to stay involved in the Medicine Hat community. Marcus volunteers as a coach for the Medicine Hat Softball Association, is a board member for the Economic Development Alliance of Southeastern Alberta - Energy Committee, and was recently inducted as the newest Board President for the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce.

He also loves the Edmonton Oilers, camping and a good afternoon nap on the weekend.

  • Co-Owner

From a small-town Saskatchewan teacher to the owner of a renewable energy-focused company now having completed its first merger, Laura Shivak fully understands the ups and downs of creating a successful, thriving business. To her, the relationships you build with your clients and the people you choose to surround yourself with make all of the difference.

Laura appreciates the people that she gets to work with every day because she says she would not be where she is today without them. She also loves being able to raise her three children in beautiful Medicine Hat and play a part in contributing to the future of the people and the community that warmly welcomed her to the Hat so many years ago.

With Terralta’s ongoing growth, Laura is thankful to continue providing her clients with environmentally responsible energy options in an economically feasible way. You can find Laura working in the backyard, going for walks, hitting the gym, or simply finding ways to stay healthy and spend time with her family in her downtime.

  • Installation Manager

At heart, Dean Kopperud is a true family man. As a Master Electrician with over 30 years of experience, Dean is a verified expert in his field, capable of taking on any job, big or small. With his skill level, you may think it would go straight to his giant head. Yet, not at all. Meeting Dean feels like you’ve always known him, and you can quickly see how he treats everyone from clients to team members as he would those closest to him.

He says that when work feels like home and coworkers feel like family,  you know you’ve got a great fit. That’s how you can truly focus on honing your skills and doing the best possible job for your clients because the support you need is there, and the stress you don't need isn’t.

Dean loves spending as much time as he can with his grandson, Hudson, as well as finding ways to make clients laugh and smile. Be warned, if stopping by the shop, you may just find Dean popping out from behind a door trying to scare you!
